After 15 seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” three network changes and a record-breaking cast of 16 queens, the bar has been raised higher than ever for the new season. Everyone knows that first impressions are everything, so let’s do our favorite thing … rank the queens based off of their ‘werk room’ entrance looks.
16. Loosey LaDuca, ‘80s Barbie
Loosey LaDuca, the camp Connecticut queen, strolls into the werk room in a patterned blue ‘80s ensemble, complete with leg warmers, an off-the-shoulder neckline and undershirt straps. The look is tied together with a butterfly belt buckle that cinches her waist.
15. Amethyst, Wannabe 2000s Pop Star
Amethyst, from Connecticut, says her drag aesthetic is “very influenced by the Y2K era.” You can see the influence in her entrance look — a holographic lavender vinyl skirt and matching bralette. She accessorized her look with headset microphone and acrylic sunglasses.
14. Princess Poppy, Blank Canvas
Princess Poppy, from San Francisco, claims she is a “real life fairy princess.” Her entrance look is an all white dress with a mini skirt. Her fascinator is a painting palette and there are splashes of color on the skirt of her dress.
13. Sugar And Spice, Bratz Realness
Sugar and Spice are twins in and out of drag hailing from Long Island, New York. With an extremely large fanbase on TikTok, the twins dub themselves “the dolls that came to life.” Starting as doll collectors, you can see the influence that the Bratz doll aesthetic has had on their drag. They’re both wearing a striped, asymmetrical top and mini skirt, each with their own character’s flair — Sugar has a softer, more feminine quality to her drag, while Spice has more of a grunge and punk edge to her drag.
12. Jax, Varsity Cheer Squad Captain
Jax dubs herself “the Simone Biles of drag.” She walks into the werk room in an oversized ‘J’ branded letterman jacket and matching green cheerleading uniform with enough stones to blind the competition.
11. Salina EsTitties, LA Latina Legend
The Latin diva from Los Angeles says on Twitter that her runway package this season is a “love letter to LatinX West Coast culture.” She walks in with a floor-length button-up modeled after “mercado bags,” a double slit khakis skirt, boxes, an EsTitties logo belt buckle, and Cortez-style heels.
10. Marcia Marcia Marcia, Class President
Marcia Marcia Marcia, a fairly new queen on the scene from New York, walks into the werk room in a light yellow and lilac plaid skirt and matching blazer. Underneath her blazer, she wears a matching lilac turtleneck sweater. She accessorizes her look with a ‘Marcia’ nameplate necklace and a bandage over her nose as an homage to Marcia Brady of “The Brady Bunch.”
9. Robin Fierce, R&B Realness
Robin Fierce, from Connecticut, walks into the werk room wearing caramel brown pleather pants and a matching off-the-shoulder, long-sleeve cropped blouse. The look features straps connecting the neckline to the top as well as almond brown colored straps around the arms and thighs. She describes her drag persona as the daughter of Diahann Carol, Mariah Carey and Beyoncé.
8. Irene Dubois, EXTRAterrestrial
Irene Dubois describes her drag as inspired by sci-fi fantasy and glamorous Texas drag. The alien queen of Seattle walks into the werk room in an asymmetrical, tie-dye orange and fuchsia bodysuit with feathered spikes covering the bodice. The look is complete with pink stoned flame fabric boots and pointy ears.
7. Anetra, Stunt Queen Extraordinaire
Anetra walks into the werk room from the Las Vegas strip. Known as a “stunt queen,” Anetra wears a cropped black leather jacket with yellow detailing over a black mesh and yellow bodysuit paired with a black leather skirt. The look is complemented by a yellow leather belt as well as a matching yellow spike rugby helmet.
6. Aura Mayari, K-Pop Idol
Aura Mayari of Nashville strides into the room in an oversized, structured, black vinyl tailcoat with shoulder pads and notched lapels. Aura accessorizes the look with matching thigh-high boots, a belt that cinches her waist and a choker that reads ‘Aura.’
5. Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Burlesque Mistress of the Night
Mistress Isabelle Brooks stuns in black lace and stoned bodysuit, that hugs each and every one of her curves. She looks absolutely opulent with her black fur coat train trailing behind her as she glides across the werk room floor.
4. Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Foxy Lady
Malaysia Babydoll Foxx enters the werk room in a bright sheer neon orange and white patterned gown that mimics the appearance of a fox. The look features white ostrich feathers along the sleeve cuffs and across the chest as well as an orange ostrich feather boa. Malaysia also had a pair of orange cat ears to match her orange hair as well as her fox tail.
3. Luxx Noir London, Real Life Pop Star
Luxx Noir London struts into the werk room in an ivory jumpsuit with black sequin fabric around the neck that forms a zig-zag pattern trailing all the way down her leg. The look is complemented by shoulder pads and a human hair wig down to her waist that accentuate her powerful walk. She describes her drag aesthetic as “effervescent, diva, flawless, stunning, period,” and this look showcases that.
2. Sasha Colby, Warrior Goddess
A legend in her own right, Sasha Colby is famous in the drag world as a stellar performer and former Miss Continental pageant queen. Sasha enters the werk room in a nude bodysuit with black crystal tattoo design details on her chest, back, arms, neck and legs. She wears a black loincloth and has other tribal accessories in her hair and along her waist. Her entrance look pays homage to her Hawaiian heritage and history.
The number one entrance look, line and execution goes to … the tag team of Ariana Grande Vivacious and Ornacia. The look was a camp reference with a reveal harkening back to Vivacious’s entrance on season 6. To quote Vivacious on season 6 of RPDR, Ariana said, “Mother has arrived,” and she most definitely did. When Ornacia is on set, she’s always a winner, baby.
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 plays every Friday, 8 p.m. EST on VH1.
