Voting Is Always In Style

Voting is sexy. Voting is liberating. Voting is fashion. Nothing exudes power more than a person who exercises their right to elect leaders of their country and works to make change they want to see in the world. Perhaps a close second, though, is someone who encourages their fellow countrymen to take part in the democratic process that helps bring those changes to life.

Earlier this month, Julianne Moore was one of the first to wear a Christian Siriano SS21 VOTE dress — a tight, black, floor-length gown with the word “VOTE” plastered from shoulder to toe. The dress has a short train and sleeves that are a bit less form-fitting. One week later we saw Lizzo attend the Billboard Music Awards, where she accepted the award for Top Song Sales Artist. The dress carried that same print, but was hemmed above the knee and had an asymmetrical top. Lizzo accessorized this look with a matching VOTE print boater top hat. The print would later be adapted for a power suit worn by Julia Roberts. Siriano would put out a line of masks in conjunction with these looks. Even Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Stuart Weitzman and Levi’s have their own VOTE collections.

In a more casual, everyday look, we see plenty of celebs sporting graphic tees encouraging their friends, family and fans to exercise their civic duties. Many celebrities are taking to Instagram to visually get through to their fans. America’s original next top model, Tyra Banks, wore a black tee with the words “VOTING IS TRES CHIC” by Cinq à Sept x Fashion Our Future.  Julia Roberts sported three more voting-related shirts from I am a voter., ERGO Archives and Prabal Gurung. Virgil Abloh created his own tee in collaboration with Fashion Our Future with the phrase “MODEL VOTER” across the chest. Selena Gomez and Eva Longoria wore a white tee with the word VOTE in red and blue across the chest from Sub_Urban Riot. Longoria also has a pair of Naturalizer heeled combat boots with the word “VOTE” spelled out across both feet. We also got to see Jennifer Hudson in a WREN + GLORY oversized, distressed grey “VOTE” painted hoodie.

Voting has even made its way into accessorizing. When Michelle Obama gave her address at the Democratic National Convention, she styled her outfit with a ByChari necklace that spelled out “VOTE.” Taylor Swift also had her own Stella and Bow x I am a voter. “VOTER” necklace that she showed off in an Instagram post as she held a plate of “BIDEN HARRIS 2020” cookies. Gwyneth Paltrow rocked a pair of “VOTE” earrings from the company Studs in an Instagram post in September Masks have been a vital accessory this year and a mask that says “VOTE” is very symbolic. “VOTE” masks have been incredibly popular and can be seen from the likes of Gabrielle Union, American Ferreira, Kerry Washington, Vanessa Hudgens, Karlie Kloss, Halle Berry, Naomi Campbell and the list could go on and on. Ciara snuck one more subtle voting plug into her Halloween costume when she had her nails spell out the word “VOTE” on one hand and the other hand had illustrations of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

When you vote on November 3 in the presidential election, make sure to wear your “I VOTED” sticker to let everyone know that you are fashionable because voting never goes out of style.
